Mooi Hair Group was founded with a simple yet powerful intention: to create a space where beauty is not only seen, but truly felt.
Owner Josh de Waal took over the Parksville salon in 2021, inspired by the opportunity to grow a business rooted in excellence and connection. With years of experience in the salon industry and a passion for high standards of service, Josh saw the potential to evolve the space into something truly his own.
The name “Mooi” reflects that vision. Meaning beautiful in Dutch, “Mooi” is a nod to Josh’s heritage and a statement of what we believe in—helping every client see and celebrate their own beauty.
At Mooi Hair Group, beauty is more than skin deep. It’s about confidence, care, and the way we make people feel when they walk through our doors.
We help create beauty and not waste.
We believe in finding more ways to be sustainable for the betterment of both our communities and the planet. That’s why we’re a Green Circle Salon. Through this initiative we recycle items like hair clippings, foils, excess hair colour, aerosol cans, and colour tubes. This empowers us to offset our emissions and reduce waste by up to 95 percent. While we still have a long way to go, we’re committed to helping our planet stay healthy and beautiful.
