Why MOOI?
From the first time I walked into MOOI, I felt welcome and accepted. I love my coworkers and the friendly, warm environment for all who come in. With so many talented stylists to work alongside I’m learning everyday. MOOI is dedicated to education and creates a space for us stylists to grow our skills through all levels of the industry.
Why did you choose this industry?
I grew up surrounded by hairdressers, and admired not only the hairstyling, but the connection this industry gives us to each other. I have always loved the idea of helping people feel like the best version of themselves, through the expression of hair!
Who / what is your professional inspiration?
I always like to say, I’m a compilation of every hairdresser I’ve been lucky enough to shadow. However, I specifically look up to my mom and aunties, as they have inspired me since I was little.
Favourite Go-To Product.
Davines Dry Texture Spray is a fabulous product for building volume without weighing the hair down. With the formula being half dry shampoo and half hairspray, it’s perfect for a light hold.
What are your major accomplishments in life / business?
I was the 2023 British Columbia gold medalist for Hairdressing in the Skills Trades Competitions, and then came 4th in Canada at the National competition, all while only 7 months into my hair industry journey. I had a blast competing and it was so cool to have my mom be there to watch me. Felt like a very full circle moment!!
Training / Classes
I have completed my level 1 & 2 in Hairdressing through VIU and just received my Red Seal. I’ve also gotten to have training classes with Josh, our salon owner at MOOI, once a week upon moving here May 2025
I’ve attended a couple hair shows in Vancouver and look forward to many more! (Hopefully some abroad classes one day)
When you are not behind the chair you are likely...
I love the outdoors and you can often find me on a golf course with friends, fishing or hunting with my family, or in the bush by a bonfire somewhere shooting archery.. I also love to bake and enjoy coming up with healthy sweets alternatives to curb my never ending sweet tooth!
Something few people know about you...
When I was 17 I accidentally left my phone behind before heading to Nepal for a month. The trip really opened my eyes to the world outside of screens and what I had been missing out on. Now I would say I’m very technologically illiterate and hardly spend time on any devices.. I choose to focus my energy on the people and places in front of me! However, I do have a cell phone but tend to lose it about once a week…
